Big Walt = good mojo

We need to get Big Walt to whip up the fans at every home game.

During the regular season, after falling behind against lowly Carolina, the Seahawks came to life after Jones briefly spoke at the retirement of #71 during the 2-minute warning at the end of the first half.

Yesterday, Seattle wisely invited Walter to connect with the crowd before the game, by having him raise the 12th Man flag.

The fans and the team responded with their greatest performance in 3+ years.

  1. But if we get the NFC Championship game back at Qwest, who should we get to lift the 12th Man flag?

  2. It is a nice problem to contemplate.

While Largent or Krieg would be excellent, I think the timeliest selection would be Cortez Kennedy, to celebrate his recent renomination to the Hall of Fame.

  3. And yet all three have already been flag raisers, so they're all out.

Maybe we need another defensive guy...like Grant Wistrom. I can only hope it's a dilemma we need to worry about.

  4. Is it a rule that you can only raise the flag once?

    I didn't know.

I'm also unclear on who has raised the flag, because they don't always show it on TV.

Grant Wistrom would be a fine selection.

They might also consider some defensive standouts from the '80s, like Kenny Easley, Joe Nash, Jeff Bryant, Jacob Green, or Fredd Young. Of course, they might have been used before.

At some point, I'd like to see Itula Mili raise the flag. He was the Dave Krieg of Seahawks tight ends--we kept trying to replace him, we even used a first-round pick to do so, and he kept outperforming those replacements (though Jerramy Stevens eventually won the starting job). Mili's release was even more unceremonious than Krieg, as he was dropped from the team during the playoffs in 2007.
